W. Bart Black, tenor,
has performed in eleven operas, eight musicals and numerous solo recitals
and appearances. Most recently, Mr. Black has performed with the Augusta
Opera as “The Carpenter” in H. M. S. Pinafore and with the
Augusta Players in the classic Broadway musical, Fiddler on the Roof. Prior
to these roles, Mr. Black performed his debut with the Augusta Opera as Mr.
Marshall in Marc Blitzstein’s Regina . He is a regular singer at the Sacred
Heart Cultural Center’s Evening at Asti’s, and performs regularly for
various groups and events in the Augusta, Georgia area. He has performed at
her Brevard Summer Opera Workshop in Brevard, North Carolina and at the
Inspiration Fine Arts Academy Summer Opera Program in Eureka Springs,
Arkansas.
Mr. Black graduated from Brewton-Parker College with a Bachelor of Music
Degree in Music Education with an emphasis in voice and minors in both piano
and trombone. He has also studied with Dr. T. N. Retif in addition to taking
numerous master classes with world-renowned teachers. Currently he is
studying with William ‘Bill” Toole’s studio in Augusta, Georgia. Mr. Black
sings regularly with several area churches as both a solo voice, and in
choir specials. He also sings with the prestigious Augusta Collegium Musicum.
